“Armour- a herstory of the Scottish bard”

A number of club members have enjoyed Shonagh Murray’s play ‘ Armour- a Herstory of the Scottish Bard”, which is being presented in Paisley and Johnstone. Part of the popular “ A Play, a Pie and a Pint” concept, the play revolves around Jean Armour and imagines the conversations she has with Burns’ mistress, Nancy Maclehose, ( Clarinda). Nicely paced, with the focus on the actors rather than any elaborate set, ‘Herstory” features several Burns songs which arise naturally, adding a touching effect to the narrative, which views the bard very much from a female perspective.

Directed by Tom Cooper, produced by A Play, A Pie and A Pint, co presented with the Traverse Theatre, Ayr Gaiety and OneRen.
